PMI explains how contextualized ads help everyone. The experts from PMI Education have noticed a dramatic increase in the use of contextual advertising. So what is contextual advertising? In its simplest form, it is advertising that is related to the content of the webpage on which a user views it. By relating to the content around it, the ad is put in context, which gives it a much higher chance of being applicable to users. For example, if you were viewing a scuba diving website, contextualized ads on the page might include ads for masks, snorkels, fins and underwater cameras. These ads would have a much higher probability of being useful to the site visitor than some randomly generated ads for scooters, duct tape or wigs.

Search engines use contextualized advertising, which is why if you were to search the phrase “scuba diving” in Google, you’d probably see dive-related ads similar to those in the previous example. Early models of contextualized advertising used cookies, making them more invasive to users. Modern versions are instead based on website content, which makes it even more effective.

While Google AdSense is one of the most popular models, there are many options available for online entrepreneurs. Some other great services include AdBrite, BidVertiser and Chitika. Services like these allow marketers to get their ads in the right place and directed to the right people, which leads to higher conversion rates and increased efficiency. From a consumer standpoint, it means that the ads on their favorite websites will actually have relevance to their interests.
